The Sensory Walk
A 15-minute walk can do more than just get your circulation flowing. By
concentrating on your five senses, you will delight your body and awaken your
mind to the world around you.
Touch: Feel the breeze on your skin or the warmth of the sun on your face.
Run your fingers along a hedge or tall grass. Pick up a rock that pleases you
and feel its texture and weight.
Sound: Find some rushing water and listen to its soothing music. Notice the
way different plants and trees sound when the wind blows.
Scent: Step outside just after a rain shower and smell the air. Stop and
sniff the bark of a tree. Note the changing aroma of the soil, plants and other
living things as you pass through different areas.
Taste: Munch on some edible flowers and herbs. Catch a snowflake on your
tongue.
Sight: Notice the shape and veins of a leaf. Study the horizon. Watch for
wildlife. Enjoy the harmonious and delicious colors of nature.
